Picture South Perth - Council Photoboards

Council Photoboards Collection

From its early beginnings as a Road Board District in 1892, through its establishment as a Municipality in 1902, back to a Road Board in 1922 and then again a Municipality in 1956, until finally declared a City in 1959, the South Perth Council has gone through many changes over the years.

The Council Photoboards are a record of the Chairmen, Town Clerks, Mayors, Council Officers and Councillors who have served the South Perth Council over the years.

39 Council Photoboards have survived, and in 2013 the City had the opportunity to digitise 27 of these photoboards.

This collection of photoboards highlights the growth of the Council through its numerous transitions starting with the first available photoboard depicting the South Perth Municipal Council 1902-1903 to the final digitised photoboard depicting the City of South Perth Council in 1992, at its Centenary Year.
